Perfume and Cosmetics - Traveling Through TSA's Strict Standards

The Airport security problem is getting out of control it no joke. I cannot even remember a time where flying was a pleasant experience. Today, if you want to make it on time for your plane to takeoff you need to arrive at the airport two hours before boarding. Once you arrive at the airport you have to go through security which means taking off your shoes, belt, coat and emptying all your pockets. Any liquids such as aerosols, perfumes and cosmetics must all go into check in baggage unless they are less than four ounces. Otherwise you will have the extra wait for the TSA to sift through your luggage in order to throw out your liquids. Once you get through the security, your left without any liquid, and if you feel thirsty you have no choice to pay whatever the stores are asking in order to drink something. If you're lucky your plane will board and takeoff on time. The experience is so tiring that by the time you get yourself settled in your seat all you want to do is sleep. If you're lucky there will be no screaming children near you and you could snooze the whole plane ride. People may wonder, how can this experience get any worse? I like to think about how people can make the flying experience better. This is why I have come up with some tips to get you in the grove of flying.

TSA

Tip #1- Read up on the latest TSA rules. It is always better to be safe than sorry. If you know what is expected of you, then you will know what to do, and there will be no surprises. The policies are constantly changing and you need to be aware of those changes. For example if you know that liquids are not allowed through security, then you will make sure to pack any liquid aerosols, mouthwash or toothpaste in your check-in-luggage. Another suggestion, if you are not checking in baggage is to buy the special travel size liquids and place them in a plastic bag. These are allowed to go through security.

Tip #2- Wear easy to remove shoes. It may sound funny that this is a big deal, however, if you have to remove your shoes and you don't have a shoe horn, it may become difficult. Many airports don't even have a place where you can sit down in order to put your shoes back on.

Tip #3- Plan ahead. The lines for security become busy quickly and everyone is rushing to make their flights. This is why you can make it easier for yourself by grabbing a couple of bins as soon as your able to reach them, or when someone will pass you them. Place your lap top, jacket, coins, belt and any other object you can do without. Leave your shoes for right before its your turn, since it may be uncomfortable for you to walk around on the bare floor. This way you will be ahead of the game, and you won't be rushed by the time its your turn to place your things on the security table.

These three tips while seemingly simple, many people are unaware of them. Although your flying experience may never be called relaxing it can be made easier by just following these tips. If you use them and find them helpful, pass them on to others and share the kindness.
